Lichterman Nature Center’sLichterman Nature Center Plant Sale

Fall Native Plant Sales
and Native Plant Sale Preview

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE (September 26, 2003) – Is your yard a bit sunnier now than it used to be? Remember that a garden is forever a work in progress, especially since the July windstorm that rearranged many Memphis gardens. If you love to see things grow, you can find some great native wildflowers, shrubs and trees that Lichterman Nature Center has available for the Fall Native Plant Sale, grown and cultivated for you by our Nature Center staff and our loyal greenhouse volunteers.

Come to Lichterman Nature Center’s 16th annual Fall Native Plant Sale October 10-11, 2003 to learn what you can do about the progress your yard made July 22nd! Experienced staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer your gardening questions and show you the variety of native plants they’ve grown at Lichterman Nature Center for the Plant Sale. There are over 200 kinds of plants available for this year’s Fall Native Plant Sale.

Lichterman’s Plant Sale kicks off with the Native Plant Preview on Thursday, October 9 from 5-6:30 p.m. Those attending get first choice of the wonderful variety of plants on sale, including wildflowers, annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees. The preview includes refreshments and reservations are required. Please make your reservations by calling (901) 767-7322, ext. 121. Tickets to the Preview purchased by Sunday, October 5 are $10 for members and $12.50 for non-members. After October 5, all tickets are $15.

The Fall Native Plant Sale itself begins Friday, October 10 (9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.) and continues Saturday, October 11 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) at Lichterman Nature Center. Admission to the Plant Sale is free. This year’s sale features plants like Beauty Berry, Button Bush, Common Milkweed, Perennial Sunflowers, and many, many more that Mid-South gardeners shouldn’t miss. There will also be related items from the gift shop available. The best choices go quickly, so the Native Plant Preview might be the best time to shop. For more information on the Plant Sale or available plants, call (901) 767-7322, ext. 121.
